Cerevast Therapeutics, Inc

is a life sciences company with primary emphasis in the field of sonolysis for the treatment of vascular clot disorders, namely acute ischemic stroke . This innovative new treatment uses lipid microspheres in combination with an innovative "hands-free" operator independent transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound device.

Cerevast Therapeutics, holds a dominant intellectual property estate relating to the therapeutic application of microspheres and TCD ultrasound technology. The company has an extensive data package of pre-clinical and clinical studies and has assembled a team of leading experts in the field of sonolysis, microsphere development and stroke treatment.

THE TEAM

BRADFORD A. ZAKES, President and CEO

Mr. Zakes has spent over 20 years in various segments of the drug development industry and has played a key role in the development of several pharmaceutical products, including Zantac®, Serevent®, and Cialis®. He was a Principal at InSite Clinical trials and the President of Heart Research Centers International (HRCI). He has also served as Director of Business Management at ICOS Corporation and President and Chief Executive Officer at ImaRx Therapeutics, a publicly traded Tucson-based biopharmaceutical company. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) as well as the Emerging Company Section Governing Body and the Standing Committees on Business Development, International Affairs and Budget and Audit for BIO.

DILIP M. WORAH, Chief Scientific Officer

Mr. Worah is considered one of the world's leading experts in lipid microsphere technology. He has recently served as the Sr. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Artemesia BioMedical, Inc. and Chief Scientific Officer at Nastech Pharmaceutical Company, Inc He has been awarded several U.S. patents covering MRI technology and x-ray and ultrasound imaging agents and has published over 22 scientific papers.

GORDON BRANDT, MD, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Brandt has over 25 years of drug and medical device development, culminating in US and international approvals. While serving as Executive Vice President at Nastech Pharmaceutical Company overseeing clinical and regulatory affairs, the company received both NDA (new drug) and ANDA (generic drug) approvals. Dr. Brandt was Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Sonus Pharmaceuticals when Sonus received European approval for its ultrasound contrast agent. He has also helped bring innovative imaging products to market including the first commercial magnetic resonance imaging system for Diasonics and a line of ultrasound systems for Siemens, resulting in approvals via the PMA, 510k, and CE mark routes.

JOHN ALLEMAN, VP Operations

Mr. Alleman is a retired United States Navy officer with a distinguished career that included service on submarines and senior leadership positions on operational staffs. Since leaving the Navy, he has worked in private industry in operations and technical project management. With extensive experience in operational excellence and Six Sigma, he also serves as an advisor for the Northwest Food Processors Association, a not-for-profit organization charged with improving global competitiveness in the $23B food manufacturing industry in the Northwest. He leads projects to enhance industry level operations and innovation with a particular focus on emerging/startup firms.

ANDREI V. ALEXANDROV, MD

Dr. Alexandrov is considered the world’s leading expert in the field of sonolysis for the treatment of ishemic stroke. He designed and executed the first multi-center clinical trial of ultrasound-enhanced thrombolysis for ischemic stroke (CLOTBUST) that was funded by NINDS and Genentech. He has published over 85 original research papers in such peer-reviewed journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, Neurology, Circulation, Stroke, Cerevrovascular Diseases, and the Journal of Neuroimaging. He has published two textbooks on cerebrovascular ultrasound and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neuroimaging, Stroke, and is an Associate Editor of the International Stroke Journal and Journal of Neuroimaging. He also serves as a Director of the Neurosonology Examination Committee of the American Society of Neuroimaging.

MARK E. SCHAFER, PhD

Dr. Schafer is an internationally recognized expert in ultrasound technology. He has management experience in emerging companies in which he brought products to market from initial sketches, through research, funding, development, manufacturing, marketing, and into sales. He is currently Vice-President of the Ultrasonic Industry Association (UIA), Chairman of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Ultrasound Technical Committee, and serves on the Board of Governors of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM); he has previously served as the Chairman of the AIUM Technical Standards Committee, Board Member for the IEEE Ultrasonics Society, and UIA President. He is a Fellow of the AIUM. He has over 40 publications and 13 issued patents (4 pending).
